Asphalt shingles

This is the most inexpensive and basic type of roofing on the market. It’s the number one choice for most homeowners because of its durability and how easy it is to install. These shingles can last, on average, up to 20 years. Though, they aren’t without their drawbacks. They have a shorter lifespan than heavier options, especially if they’re being walked on regularly. Darker coloured asphalt also has a tendency to fade when exposed to heavy sunlight.

Metal roofing
This is rapidly becoming a viable option for many homeowners in Lethbridge. These shingles are relatively low maintenance, are lightweight and are more environmentally friendly than other alternatives. They do, however, come with a couple of drawbacks too. They’re complicated to install and will definitely require an experienced contractor to get the job done. They also have a tendency to lose their shine after a number of years. This isn’t an issue, as you can always repaint your shingles so long as the structural integrity of the roof is still intact.

Flat roofing
While being one of the most inexpensive options for roofing your home in Lethbridge, it requires far more maintenance than your other options. This is because the roof lacks a slant, you have to periodically make sure that it’s sealed airtight to avoid any flooding from rainwater. They do have a significant advantage, though, if you need to frequently walk on your roof. This sort of roof will likely need replacing every 15 years or so.

Slate
For a more sophisticated and natural look, try stone slate and ceramic tiles. These can last up to 50 – 70 years, which makes sense considering the high price for installation that comes along with them.
